My story of when I first wondered how to start an online business started a couple of years ago…
I was really struggling in this economy, about as far away from job security as you could get, none of my bosses cared and generally I just felt insecure about my future. I figured that my mind frame was the problem and so I set out to find a solution.
But that was a stupid idea, I wasn’t an entrepreneur and I didn’t have any real experience in owning a business. I tried to start an online business several times and got burned. I was getting nowhere fast. Instead I wanted something that was attainable, simple and that worked. I didn’t want to be a millionaire here…
So, I decided I wanted a legitimate online business opportunity. I wanted to be self sufficient. I spent many months searching for an online business to start and pretty much failed at every turn.
Those “get rich quick” programs sucked, results from only 20 minutes work a day - Yeah right! And I didn’t have time to go to seminars or bother my friends and family with the next “break though”, or “couldn’t live with out it product or service.”
I tried those pyramid scams and cash gifting programs too. Yeah I know, BAD idea, guilty as charged. Anyway, once again no results. A quick note to anyone considering trying them: Don’t. They’re awful, gave me mood swings and they’re just generally not good. I even got burned for $1000 once and believe me, I couldn’t afford that.
I tried extreme “start your own business” plans in a box too. And believe it or not, they did work… kind of. You see, one of the main things preventing people from deciding which online business to start is finding a direction to take and sticking to it. No matter how smart you are (I consider myself average) you probably still have doubts regarding your abilities. Anyway, so the extreme start your own business plans do work to a point…

But the uncertainty was too much for me. I can’t sleep well knowing that every day is a crap shoot, not only to get going in the first place but risk my families financial future on a pipe dream.
Anyway, I gave my “online business quest” up for a long time, convinced that it was just a fantasy. Until one day while attending my son’s baseball game I was talking to this guy I see down there sometimes, John Ashew and I started asking how he got his new car…
I mean, last time I saw him he didn’t have one. Long story short and a 1 hour conversation later he told about this internet marketing system on the internet.
It’s called Wealthy Affiliate, so I figured I may as well check it out and man am I glad I did. It didn’t work quite as well as it was advertised on the site (not as fast as I wanted it to anyway) but within just one month I was starting to make money… And I didn’t work as hard on it as I thought I’d have to.
4 months later I was really making decent money!
So if you’re looking for an online business to start, then I recommend you too check out Wealthy Affiliate University. I mean, it worked wonders for me.
